CapCut desktop will not add a transition: check the cut and duration
Check the gap between clips, the transition duration, and the available material before changing the rest of your edit.
A CapCut transition needs a suitable cut between clips and enough material for its duration. Zoom into the cut, check that the clips touch, and try a shorter transition if the effect will not fit. If you cannot find the control at all, check the Transitions section rather than the animations library.

Check the boundary between the clips
Do not move a whole sequence to close a gap without checking its timing. The gap may be intentional, and shifting clips can put captions or music out of sync.
Is the transition missing, or does it fail to apply?
CapCut's transition visibility guide points to gaps, timeline zoom, and the selected editing section as common places to check.

Try the effect on two simple clips
In a separate project, place two ordinary local clips next to each other. Open Transitions, drag an available transition between them, and preview it. Start with a short duration. CapCut's troubleshooting guide identifies short clips and insufficient surrounding material as possible obstacles.
If it works, return to a copy of your real edit and compare the failing cut. This avoids changing timing throughout a finished sequence just to investigate one effect.
Watch from before the transition through its end, including nearby sound. For a delivery-critical cut, export a short sample under a new filename. If that export fails too, use the export-failure guide.
