Canva prints with white edges: check bleed before exporting
Find whether a white border comes from the design edge, PDF export, or the way the page is printed and trimmed.
For a design meant to print to the edge, inspect the downloaded PDF at the intended trim boundary. Background artwork needs to continue beyond that boundary into the bleed. White space outside crop marks is different from a white strip inside the finished page.

Canva paged designs in a desktop browser, exported for print. Canva Docs does not support these bleed, margin, and crop-mark controls.
Look at the PDF before changing the design
Ask the print provider for the required page size, bleed, and whether they want crop marks. Keep a copy of the current design before changing its size or composition.
Extend the background, keep the text safe
In Canva, open File > Settings > Show print bleed. Some editor layouts place this under File > Rulers and guides. Extend the background into any uncovered bleed area. Use Show margins to help keep text away from the edge. These guides are fixed, and they are not available in Canva Docs. See Canva's guide to margins, bleed, and crop marks.
Inspect all four edges of every page, including the back of a two-sided design. A useful proofing method is to follow one contrasting background shape around the perimeter. Look for a thin white gap where it stops, a photo corner that no longer covers the edge, or small text too close to the intended cut.
Do not enlarge the entire layout automatically. A background may need extending while the title and contact details should stay where they are.
Export the printer's requested file
Choose Share > Download > PDF Print. If the printer requests them, enable Crop marks and bleed. Download the PDF and open that file for the final edge check; the crop marks appear in the PDF, not on the editing canvas.

Adding bleed does not make every printer capable of borderless printing. If you are printing at home, compare the PDF page dimensions with the paper and print settings; do not keep stretching the artwork to compensate for an unexplained physical margin.
Before ordering the full run
Request a proof showing the final cut, particularly if text or a border sits near the edge. If Canva's documented controls are absent from a supported design, use its Help Center and provide the design type and browser, without sharing private design contents publicly.
If the edges are correct but the artwork itself looks soft, continue with Canva download sharpness checks.
