CapCut desktop does not show the keyframe controls

Select an editable timeline clip and inspect the parameter panel before replacing a template or rebuilding the project.

Quick answer

Select a video, image, or text clip on the CapCut desktop timeline before looking for a keyframe diamond in the right-hand editing panel. CapCut places keyframe controls beside supported parameters, rather than showing one control for every item in a project.

Make sure you are editing a timeline item

A thumbnail in the import library and a selected clip on the timeline are different things. Click the timeline item you want to animate, then look at whether the right panel describes that item. If it still shows unrelated project or template options, you have not yet established that the expected clip controls are missing.

CapCut's PC keyframe help points to the Video, Transform, or Adjust sections and parameters such as position, scale, and opacity. Look beside the parameter you actually want to change. Panel headings can vary with the selected asset and app version; an unrelated effect setting is not proof that the transform controls are unavailable.

Compare with a plain clip in a separate project

Before replacing media or taking a template apart, preserve the current project. Create a separate small project with an ordinary local video or image that contains no private content. Put it on the timeline, select it, and inspect the same parameter area.

You see it beside one parameter onlyAssess the parameter you need; do not assume every setting accepts keyframes.

This comparison does not alter the original edit. It gives you a smaller support example and avoids rebuilding a long project without knowing whether that would help.

Keep template limitations separate

CapCut says some templates, grouped elements, and special assets may not expose keyframe controls. If the plain clip works but the template item does not, first decide whether you need to animate an editable clip instead. Do not detach or replace template elements until you have preserved the version whose layout you need.

If you can add keyframes, check the beginning and end of the intended interval in a short local preview. Seeing a diamond establishes that a control is available; it does not prove the finished motion is correct. For general playback trouble, see choppy CapCut previews.

If the control is still missing for a selected ordinary clip, use the support link near the top of CapCut's PC keyframe article. Include your desktop version, asset type, parameter, and whether the separate-project comparison behaves the same way. A redacted panel screenshot is sufficient; do not upload the whole client project.
