Canva PNG still has a white background: check the page, image, and download

Check what the white area belongs to

Keep the original design and work on a duplicate for these comparisons. Export one page with a distinct filename so you know which download you are inspecting.

If the transparent-download control is missing

Canva's transparent-background download guide lists Pro, Teams, Business, Education, and Nonprofits plans. It requires PNG and excludes Canva Docs. Check the active plan and design type before diagnosing an application fault; a plan change is not a remedy for a white rectangle embedded in a photograph.

For an eligible static design, follow Share > Download, choose PNG, turn on Transparent background, and select the intended page. Canva also instructs users to set the page background to white or remove its existing background before downloading.

If only one uploaded picture keeps its rectangle

Compare two areas: empty space around your design and the white area immediately surrounding the photo or logo. If the first is transparent but the second is not, inspect the uploaded image itself.

Canva distinguishes removing an image background from downloading a transparent page. Where available, select the photo and use BG Remover. Inspect fine edges, holes, and any white detail that should remain part of the subject. Do not assume every white pixel is unwanted background.

A cleaner source logo with an existing transparent background may be more suitable than trying to cut a low-quality preview out of a white rectangle. Keep an untouched copy so the original artwork remains recoverable.

Do not use opacity as a substitute

The Transparency control changes the selected element's opacity. Select an element, then use Transparency in the toolbar and adjust its slider or value. If you lower an entire logo's opacity, its lettering and artwork also fade; that does not isolate the surrounding white area.

Use that control only when the intended result is a translucent element. If the foreground must remain solid, investigate the background or source image instead.

Verify the output in a contrasting context

Our suggested check is to place the saved PNG on a temporary dark-colored page in a separate design. Repeat against a light color if the edges are hard to judge. This is a diagnostic comparison, not a claim that we tested your export.
