After Effects hides the last lines of a text box
Check paragraph-text overflow and enlarge the text box without scaling the lettering or discarding hidden characters.
If the first lines appear but the final lines do not, activate the Type tool and inspect the paragraph text box. After Effects displays an overflow icon when the box cannot hold all its text. Enlarge the box with the Type tool so the text reflows, rather than scaling the entire layer.
In this guide
After Effects desktop on Windows and macOS; paragraph text with a fixed bounding box. Not point-text wrapping, masks, or expression-generated text.
Resize the box while keeping the text size
Save a project copy before adjusting a finished title or template. Double-click the text layer in the Timeline to activate text editing, then inspect its box in the Composition panel. With the Type tool active, drag the box's bottom boundary downward to give the remaining lines room. Increase its width only if the line breaks also need to change.
Adobe's text-layer guide distinguishes paragraph text, which wraps inside a box, from point text, which does not. It documents both the overflow indicator and resizing with the Type tool.
Watch two things during the adjustment: the missing words should appear, and the letter size should remain appropriate for the title. If the entire title grows or moves, stop and return to text editing before continuing. A larger layer is not the same result as a roomier paragraph box.
Check the title in its final layout
Once the overflow indicator is gone, review the title at the frames where it is supposed to be readable. A box can now contain the text while placing its last line outside the composition or beneath another element. Correct that placement separately; adding more box height will not make an off-frame line visible.
For a lower third, compare the longest name or role with the shorter examples. Check the last line, line spacing, and the space around adjacent graphics. Keep intentional margins instead of enlarging the box to the full composition merely to hide the overflow warning.
If the font looks different from the expected design, resolve the missing-font issue before settling the line breaks. Otherwise you may size the box around lettering that will change again when the intended font returns.
If there is no overflow indicator
Treat overflow as a diagnosis to confirm, not a default explanation for all missing text. If the words are present in text editing and fit inside the box, note whether the problem occurs at every frame or only during an animation. That distinction is useful for investigating a mask, layer visibility, or expression separately.
Use the Community link on Adobe's text-layer guide for an unresolved case. Include the app version, whether the layer is paragraph or point text, and a redacted screenshot showing the box and the affected frame. Do not replace an expression or delete a mask just to make a screenshot look correct.
